House painters in Northwest Portland—raising the bar.

No stress. No shortcuts. Just flawless execution by pros who lead from the front.

In Northwest Portland, expectations are already high—so we raise them. Many of the homes we paint are tall, complex builds on steep lots, and we come fully equipped to handle them. Our owner-operators don’t just manage crews—they’re on-site daily, guiding every detail and holding the standard at every stage. Steep hillside? Custom finishes? Zero margin for error? That’s our comfort zone.

Unprepared crews cost you time, money—and confidence.

No scrambling for rented scaffolding, or specialty ladders—we own what we need, and our crews are trained to use it safely. That alone can save you thousands, and prevent the delays and risks that less-prepared teams bring. We don’t promise what we can’t deliver—we prepare, we execute, and we protect your home every step of the way.

This isn’t about doing it better than the last house painters in Northwest Portland you hired. It’s about delivering the kind of work you don’t have to think about twicebecause we already have.

Professional House painters are truly professional. From the get-go, Elia returned my calls in a timely manner, was responsive to all my questions, and explained exactly what her crew would be doing each day. We had the exterior of our house stained, and the house looked great when they were finished. They were very careful with our outdoor garden and plants and cleaned up nicely after each day they were there. My only minor issue was that our tall front door was quite wet after they pressure-washed the siding, and I needed to dry it myself. Probably a simple miss and not a big deal, as everything else was dry. I would highly recommend Professional House Painters.

I recently hired PHP for a large, challenging job on my house in Portland and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. After soliciting 4 bids, they stood out not only for their competitive pricing but also for their understanding of the unique requirements of my project—which required significantly more skill and labor. The crew worked tirelessly; their dedication and attention to detail were evident throughout the entire process. During the final walkthrough, I found very few issues, and all of them were addressed immediately. Impressively, no money changed hands until I was 100% satisfied with the job. I highly recommend PHP for any large and challenging painting projects. Their quality of work, fair pricing, timeliness, and commitment to customer satisfaction make them a top choice in the Portland area.

We hired Professional House Painters to dwork on our very high 3-story house. They did a fantastic job. Ramon, our estimator was knowledgeable and had good suggestions; power washing was done when they said it would be done—and the painting job itself was exactly on time. An experienced crew with good leadership and great communication throughout. They moved what needed to be moved and then moved it back and cleaned up. There was no splatter, no painting outside the lines. They prepared the surface and put on 2 coats. They reached really high areas safely. Their estimate was NOT the lowest—actually on the higher end—but it was worth every penny and the final bill exactly matched the estimate. We would hire PHP again and they are highly recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best house painters in Northwest Portland?

The best house painters in Northwest Portland combine experience with hillside access knowledge, architectural precision, and reliable project oversight. Look for teams with consistent reviews, owner-led crews, and a reputation for quality in neighborhoods like Forest Heights, Kings Heights, and Hillside.

Painting a multi-story home in Northwest Portland typically ranges from $8,000 to $20,000. Factors include home height, slope, prep needs, and finish type. Homes on steep lots may require specialized equipment, which can add to costs if crews aren’t properly equipped.
Most three-story homes on steep lots take 7–12 days to paint, depending on prep, weather, and accessibility. Crews with in-house scaffolding and hillside experience typically finish faster without compromising quality or safety.

Only certain crews are trained and equipped for steep-lot painting. Look for contractors who own 30-foot ladders, appropriate safety gear, and have demonstrated experience with multi-story homes built into slopes—especially in neighborhoods like the Forest Heights, Northwest Heights, Sylvan-Highlands, Arlington Heights, and Skyline.

First, ask if they have experience with hillside homes. Painting homes on steep lots requires a higher level of skill, knowledge and safety precautions. A qualified painter will own their access equipment, and use climate-rated paints. Next, ask who supervises the work—crew leaders or company owners. These jobs require Sr. level project management and hands-on company leadership to succeed.
